BEQUIA

Bequia, the largest, of the Grenadine Islands, is famous not only for its great natural beauty, but for its fabulous sailing and historically for its whaling tradition. The local fishermen supply the Island with a wonderful daily selection of freshly caught fish at the local marketplace. It is a place where the authentic way of life is still favoured by many local people. Nestled between the beautiful hills are many idyllic beaches, as well as local water sports including diving schools, many restaurants and bars where you can relax to the sound of steel drum and calypso bands, and sample the delicious West Indian cooking, not forgetting the local rum punch!

The bustling harbor of Port Elizabeth meets all your shopping needs from the locally famous Doris Fresh Food Store to Maranne's Home-Made Ice Cream Shop and various supermarkets, boutiques, gift and local craft shops, a fruit and vegetable market and a fish market. There are two large banks and cash machines for your convenience, accepting all major credit and debit cards.

The people in Bequia are so friendly, visitors tend to return year after year - definitely a real jewel of the Grenadines.

Flights to the Island are frequent, connecting with flights from the U.S., and Europe., in Barbados and Antigua (flight time approx. 40 minutes from Barbados or Antigua direct to Bequia).
